School & Business Visits

School & College Visits

We welcome visits from schools and colleges to Kalpa Bhadra Kadampa Buddhist Centre, and we are also happy to come to schools to give talks on Buddhism or introduce pupils or staff to meditation.  Our talks can be a part of an RE or PSHE session for students, or would be equally suitable to staff well-being days.

Visit our centre

Visiting our centre gives your pupils the chance to experience what Buddhism and meditation mean first hand. They can see our beautiful shrine with different Buddhas and offerings, meet a Buddhist nun and try meditating in our serene meditation room. Our meditation room can hold around 40 people.

What to expect:

  • A talk from a practicing Buddhist
  • A chance to ask questions
  • An opportunity to try meditation

A talk from a practicing Buddhist ~ This can be tailored to suit your pupils’ learning needs, but typically includes the story of the life of Buddha, information on how Buddhists live and work today and an explanation of the essence of Buddha’s teachings.

A chance to ask questions ~  As every group is different, we leave ample time for questions, so that the students have the chance to find out about the things which really interest them. We can also offer more creative and interactive activities on request.

An opportunity to try meditation ~ Meditation can have a beneficial effect on all aspects of a pupil’s life.  We will explain a simple meditation and give them the opportunity to try this.

We can visit you!

We are able to come to schools and colleges to give a talk about Buddhism and meditation. This can be in an assembly, to a particular group or several groups. Some schools request us to offer meditation sessions to help pupils develop resilience and well-being, while others ask for a general introduction to Buddhism and meditation. It’s up to you!

  • We can focus on specific aspects of Buddhism to suit your pupils learning on request
  • We can put you in touch with larger centres all over the world for class trips away

Other Information

  • Typical visits are around 1 hour, but we are happy to discuss your needs

Meditating in your workplace

The benefits of meditation are well-documented everywhere, but finding authentic instructions is so important if you and your staff are going to reap those benefits. At Kalpa Bhadra Kadampa Buddhist Centre we teach scientific methods for self-improvement, coming from ancient Buddhist wisdom.

“If we respond to difficult situations with a positive or peaceful mind they would not be problems for us; indeed, we may even come to regard them as challenges or opportunities for growth and development.” Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, ‘How to Transform Your Life’
