True Inner Freedom

Day Course

Freeing ourselves from the mental patterns that lock us into a cycle of suffering

Why do we suffer? This is the question that started Buddha on his journey to enlightenment. Buddhism is essentially Buddha’s answer to this question, combined with precise instructions on how to transcend suffering by eradicating its inner cause. We suffer because of our delusions, distorted thoughts and emotions that disturb our inner peace. The result of acting out delusions is mental and physical pain. All delusions stem from  a core delusion known as self-grasping ignorance. For as long as self-grasping remains in our heart, all the other delusions such as  hatred, greed and arrogance, will inevitably arise, cause us to act negatively, and keep us trapped in a self-perpetuating cycle of suffering called samsara.

This course is based on Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the founder of the New Kadampa Tradition’s, commentary to Je Tsongkhapa’s Three Principal Aspects of the Path, found in Mirror of Dharma with Additions. The three principal aspects of the path to enlightenment are Renunciation, Bodhichitta, and the Wisdom realizing ultimate truth. Renunciation is the topic of this course; Bodhichitta the topic of the course The Awakening Heart on 31st October, and wisdom realizing ultimate truth the topic of the course The Sword of Wisdom on 28th November. While it would be best to attend all three courses, each will be fairly self-contained so you can attend any course on its own if you prefer.

Lunch is included.  Please notify us by 23rd September with any food allergies.
